Sedgwick County Zoo’s largest fundraising effort and one of the most successful events of its kind in the nation will take place on September 11th. At Zoobilee, patrons can check out the animal exhibits while listening to live music and feasting on food and drinks from more than seventy of Wichita’s favorite restaurants. There are also hundreds of items in a silent auction and a live auction to sponsor the animals. Proceeds from the event go to support the daily operation of the zoo. Howerton + White did a great job with the design work and we were happy to take part in producing this commercial for the event. Click here for more info about supporting this community asset!
It’s a girl!
In our efforts to inform every citizen of Kansas City about Intake, we’ve tapped into the talents of Katie Schmidt, an accomplished sales person with five years of experience in business development. We’re excited to add such a likable and talented person to our team and are confident that Intake clients will trust her and appreciate the level of enthusiasm she brings. Her unique work experiences and education from Kansas State University make her a creative, out of the box thinker and we hope that you’ll help us welcome her to the Intake team.

The American Red Cross Heroes Breakfast is a first time event for the Midway-Kansas Chapter that will recognize local citizens for their acts of great bravery, dedication and service to Wichita. The Heroes event grew out of the desire to develop an event that is closely related to the Red Cross Mission – “Saving lives through prevention, preparedness and response” and all proceeds directly benefit local programs. As the video sponsor of this December 14th fundraising event, we’re producing the stories of these local individuals whose extraordinary acts of courage or kindness make them a hero.
Visit the Heroes Breakfast website through October 15th to nominate a trained professional or a good Samaritan whose actions saved a life.

We recently donated to the Greater Wichita YMCA and their Strong Kids Campaign. The program provides funds for early learning child care centers, summer day camps, need-based program scholarships and before and after school programs. The Strong Kids Campaign will impact 40,000 local citizens this year and we encourage our friends to make an investment in our community by visiting their site here.
Galaxy Game
A Galaxy of Stars is an annual fundraising event that’s held at the Crown Uptown Dinner Theater and benefits Senior Services of Wichita. Now in its third year, the evening of July 20th will be spent “roasting” Brett Harris from B98 FM with good-humored insults, praise, outlandish stories, and heartwarming tributes. We produced a video to help set the stage for the night’s antics where Rene Steven will be serving as roastmaster and host of the event. Other local celebs joining in on the fun include Larry Hatteburg, Anita Cochran, Dawson Grimsley, Denise Neil and Nola Foulston. It’s a fun night for a great cause!
Athletes & Airlifts
At the end of July, Cessna Citation owners will come together to transport 3,000 Special Olympics athletes and coaches from across the United States to Lincoln, Nebraska, for the USA National Games. Corporations and individual Citation owners and operators donate their business jets, pilots and fuel to transport athletes to the games. We’ll be there along the way to film a Citation land or takeoff every 60-90 seconds during a 12-hour period on July 17th and the volunteers who help make it possible, including Harrison Ford, who is the Honorary Chairman for the event. We’ll be capturing footage of the games and ceremonies to produce a video that will be distributed to those that donated their resources. Also while we’re there, we edit short clips that will be uploaded to a media FTP where TV stations across the country can pick them up to run stories.
We’re thrilled to be in the company of such great organizations and lend our help in documenting the world’s largest peacetime airlift.

For the 5th consecutive year, we’re thrilled to be a sponsor of the Westar Energy/United Way benefit golf tournament. Teams golfed for a great cause on Saturday, June 19th at Sand Creek Station in Newton and more than $8,000 was raised through the tournament to help the agencies that the United Way serves. A big thanks to our friends at Westar Energy and United Way for letting us be a part of this event.
Test Shoot
Last week, Todd, Heath, Kevin and Lonny tested out five of the top cameras in the industry to compare footage in a variety of environments. We test shot a Canon 1D, 5D, 7D, Sony PMW-EX1 and a HVX200 with and without 35 mm lens adapter. With Avid’s latest release, Media Composer 5, we can now mix all of these native file formats in the timeline when editing a project. This allows us to work more efficiently with more formats in more ways than ever.
We’re excited to review all the footage and determine which camera will best fit a project’s need.

New Faces
At big companies they call it reorganization but here we call it saying goodbye to good friends and welcoming new ones to the Intake family. Vincent McNeill will be saying sawadee (that’s Thai for bye) as he begins a new life adventure back-packing across Asia. We’ll miss him and wish him chúc may mắn (that’s Vietnamese for luck…we think).
